What benefits you get with Wellpoint

Since 1996, we’ve been providing New Jersey families with access to great healthcare. We’ll do the same for you.

Get the care you need from a doctor you choose. We have thousands of doctors in our plan, including many specialists. You can get most services without a referral.
When you have to get care in the hospital, you’re covered. Benefits also include urgent and emergency care.
Benefits include prescriptions and many over-the-counter (OTC) drugs. As an extra benefit for being a Wellpoint member, you can get up to $15 every quarter toward certain OTC products like Tylenol, Band-Aids, and other wellness items.

Healthy teeth and eyes are an important part of good overall health. Adults and kids can get:

  • Annual eye exams
  • $100 contact lens allowance every two years instead of glasses
  • Dental checkups, cleanings and flouride treatments every six months
Health issues come up when you least expect them. You can get fast, no-cost medical advice from a registered nurse anytime, day or night.
Earn gift cards just for getting annual screenings through our Healthy Rewards program. Moms-to-be can also get gift cards and baby items through our maternal care program. 

We know that healthcare is more than just doctor visits. We offer these no-cost extra incentives just for being our member: 

Extras for kids

  • School-age members ages 5 to 18 who have completed a wellness exam in the past 12 months are eligible to receive up to $25 for school supplies.
  • Children ages 0-18 can earn a gift card for completing their annual dental cleanings.
  • Members ages 3 to 6 who complete a well-child checkup are eligible to receive a booster seat.

Extras for pregnant moms and newborns

  • Eligible new moms who have delivered within the past two weeks can choose from one of the following postpartum benefits through Wellpoint:
    • A voucher for a two-night stay at an approved postpartum facility.
    • Delivery of up to 14 postpartum frozen meals, with kosher options available.
  • Taking Care of Baby and Me (TOCOBAM) offers prenatal management to identify pregnant members early and prevent health issues. High-risk members receive a dedicated case manager.
  • Pregnant members who complete two or more prenatal visits are eligible to receive a car seat.
  • Members up to 12 months old who complete their first well-infant checkup can receive one package of diapers.
  • Eligible members ages 0 to 2 who complete a well-child checkup and lead screening can choose a potty-training seat or a filtered water pitcher with a replacement filter.

Extras to live well

  • Access to the Community Resource Link to find all the available local community-based programs, benefits, and services.
  • Members ages 18 or older who are diagnosed with diabetes and have completed an A1C test can receive up to four pairs of diabetic socks.
  • Members diagnosed with asthma can receive one hypoallergenic pillowcase.
  • Eligible NJ members can have their GED exam fees paid for up to 4 exams.

Extras for Managed Long Term Services and Supports (MLTSS)

  • To help members get fresh food, eligible members can choose from one of the following: three farm-fresh produce boxes, annual Sam’s Club membership or annual Costco membership
  • Eligible members receive a $25 gift card per quarter to use toward the purchase of over-the-counter products online or in-store.
  • Eligible members receive a $40 gift card to purchase sensory products.
