Wellpoint offers health benefits to kids, families, and adults through Iowa Health Link and Hawki, the Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) programs in Iowa.

Benefits with Wellpoint

Nothing is more important than keeping you and your family healthy. We offer the care you need, plus extra benefits just for our members.

Get the care you need from a doctor you choose. We have thousands of doctors in our plan, including many specialists.
If you need to get care in the hospital, you’re covered. Benefits also include urgent and emergency care.
Wellness visits (annual exams) are one of the best ways to help protect your health. Your coverage includes these visits and the immunizations (shots) you need to stay healthy.
If you are pregnant, all your pregnancy care, including labor and delivery, is included in your benefits. Your newborn baby’s care is also covered.
Eligible members can receive an annual eye exam and glasses once every year.
  • A no-cost smartphone with unlimited data, talk and text, that is preloaded with helpful digital health apps for eligible members.
  • Transportation assistance with a choice of one for eligible members:
    • $100 Uber gift card
    • $100 gas card
    • $50 bus pass
    • $35 gift card to help cover the cost of an oil change
  • Choice of one item from various assistive device or wheelchair accessories for eligible members
  • Choice of one asthma relief product for members with asthma
  • Fresh food option for eligible members to choose one from:
    • Annual membership to Sam’s Club

    • A $75 gift card for grocery delivery

  • Healthy results program for eligible adult members 18 and up, including:
    • Gym membership (up to $100)
    • Weight Watchers (WW)  vouchers for 13 weeks of no-cost membership
    • Access to on-demand fitness and exercise resources
  • Home essentials for eligible foster care and LTSS members, including up to $50 worth of items such as bedding, dishes, cutlery, and more
  • Personal care and hygiene products for eligible foster care and LTSS members
  • Up to $50 in sensory products for eligible members
  • Choice of one healthy lifestyle aid (such as a digital scale, home blood pressure cuff, and more) for eligible members
  • Home-delivered meals for eligible members after a hospital stay

  • Community transportation: Up to ten round-trip community rides for eligible Iowa Health Link members
  • Healthy kids program for eligible members ages 6–17, including:
    • Up to three farm-fresh produce boxes

    • Up to $50 to help cover the cost of a youth club membership to Boy or Girl Scouts, Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, FFA, or 4-H
  • Summer reading benefit of e-reader and digital library membership or Barnes & Noble gift card for eligible foster care members
  • Annual meditation app subscription for eligible members, ages 13 and older
  • Up to $150 worth of baby essentials, such as a car seat, portable crib, diapers, baby monitor, highchair, and more
  • A $50 gift card for breastfeeding and bottle-feeding supplies
  • Up to five no-cost visits with a certified doula for prenatal, delivery, and postpartum support for eligible pregnant and postpartum members
  • Up to $100 toward uniform support for eligible members ages 18 and older
  • High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) testing at no cost for members ages 18 and older
  • Up to $2,500 reintegration benefit to assist eligible members moving from a facility to home-based setting
  • Up to $750 to help cover the filing and attorney fees of a guardianship appointment

How to join Wellpoint

Apply for benefits

Medicaid is open to adults and families who meet certain income requirements, pregnant women and new moms, and people with disabilities.

After you are approved for benefits, you’ll be assigned to a health plan. You can choose a different health plan using one of the ways listed below.

Email your completed managed care organization (MCO) change form to Iowa Medicaid Member Services.
